Tampa Bay acquires former Canadian Football League defensive back Seth Williams

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm has acquired defensive back Seth Williams, announced Storm Vice President of Football Operations Jeff Gooch.

“Seth is a veteran that brings both NFL and CFL experience to the team,” said Gooch. “We believe he has the ability to come out and make an impact on the field.”

Williams (5-foot-11, 190 lbs., Richmond) joins the Storm for his second season in the Arena Football League. The Fayetteville, NC native spent part of the 2015 season with the New Orleans VooDoo, starting in 4-of-4 games and collecting 17.0 tackles, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.

Williams began his professional career in 2010 when he signed with the New York Giants of the National Football League as an undrafted rookie free agent. He would go on to sign with the Montreal Alouettes in 2011, spending three seasons with the team before moving on to the Ottawa Redblacks in 2014. For his CFL career, Williams has recorded 118.0 total tackles and two interceptions.

Prior to turning pro, Williams played four seasons with the University of Richmond. He would appear in 57 games for the Spiders and recorded 157.0 tackles, eight interceptions, 19 pass breakups, a sack and a forced fumble. He helped lead the team to a 2008 Division I FCS Championship.
