Soul names Phil Bogle as General Manager

PHILADELPHIA– The 2015 Eastern Division Champion Philadelphia Soul announced today that Phil Bogle has been named General Manager and Head of Football Operations for this upcoming season. This comes as former GM Tom Goodhines leaves to take a senior executive position at the Arena Football League Office in Las Vegas.
“I am so pleased to have been named General Manager of a team I have the opportunity to both play for and coach for over the last few years,” said Bogle. “Since 2007, my heart has been with this organization and I am excited to take the next step in my career, while being responsible for putting together a team that will bring Philadelphia a world championship.”
“Phil is a perfect fit to lead our football operation,” said Soul Chief Operating Officer John Adams. “In addition to having NFL and AFL playing experience, he has been on our coaching staff for three years and has played a critical role in the operations of the department including recruiting players to the Soul while here.”
Bogle enters his fifth season as a member of the Soul staff and first season as a General Manager. During his time as a coach, the Soul made four post-season runs and won two conference championships. He led one of the best offensive lines in the AFL, allowing the fewest sacks in the League for both the 2013 and 2014 seasons (7) and second fewest in 2015 (10). Under his direction, Bogle had three offensive players (Adam Smith, Shannon Breen and Tommy Taggart) and one defensive player (Bryan Robinson) selected to the 2015 All-Arena Team and C Shannon Breen was awarded 2015 Offensive Lineman of the Year. In the 2014 season Bogle was responsible for three All-Arena players (Derrick Ross, Teddy Jennings and Wayne Tribue) and four in the 2013 season (Derrick Ross, Brennan Carvalho, Christian Johnson and Bryan Robinson).
Bogle played as a lineman for the Soul in 2007-08. He won All-Rookie team and First-team All-Arena in 2007. In 2008, he won First-Team All-Arena again and the ArenaBowl XXII Championship. He was also a finalist for the League’s Lineman of the Year award. In 2010, Bogle played for the Dallas Vigilantes and recorded four receptions for 19 yards and one touchdown. He also spent time in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes (2009), in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2006, 2008), Cleveland Browns (2005), San Diego Chargers (2003) and in NFL Europe with the Hamburg Sea Devils (2006).
