Attack Dance Team Auditions To Begin September 25

Tuesday September 8, 2015

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks and the Attack Dance Team announced today that auditions for the 2016 Attack squad will begin on Friday, September 25. The multi-stage audition process will conclude with the final round, to be held on Saturday, October 24.

“We are very excited about what is in store for the Attack next season,” Attack Dance Team Manager Laura Bouchy said. “We can’t wait to begin the audition process and meet the ladies who will make up next year’s squad.”

The audition process begins with two prep classes, held on Friday, September 25 (7:00 – 9:00 p.m.) and Saturday, September 26 (10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.). During prep classes, dancers will learn about what will be expected of them during tryouts, as well the ins and outs of being a member of the Attack. Please note that those wishing to attend prep classes must pay a fee of $20 per class. The location of this year’s prep classes will be announced at a later date.

Following the conclusion of prep classes, the Preliminary Round will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, and will be held at Dance Trance, located at 1515 San Marco Blvd. in Jacksonville. Dance Trance will serve as the Attack’s practice facility for the 2016 season.

“Dance Trance is proud to be a partner of the 2016 Attack Dance Team,” Dance Trance Director Beth Handline said. “Working with the Sharks will give us the opportunity to spread the love of dance throughout the Jacksonville community. We plan to make the upcoming season fun on the field and on the dance floor!”

During the Preliminary Round, dancers will be asked to quickly learn material that will be performed that morning and at the following week’s Semi-Finals. Also held at Dance Trance, the Semi-Finals will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17. Finalists will be selected at the end of the Semi-Finals, and will be asked to stay to learn material for the following week’s final round.

Each dancer who advances to the finals will be asked to schedule an individual interview with the Attack Dance Team staff during the following week. Finalists must also participate in the Talent session, to be held at Dance Trance the evening of Friday, October 23. During this session, each dancer will be asked to perform a solo routine that showcases a unique skill or ability.

The two-week audition process culminates in the Finals, to be held on Saturday, October 24. The time and location of this year’s Finals will be announced at a later date.

In order to audition, prospective Attack Dancers must complete the application packet, which may be found online at jaxsharks.com/danceteam/auditions. Dancers must also pay a $50 audition fee, payable by cash or credit card. This fee is in addition to any prior fees paid for prep classes. Completed applications may be submitted via email, fax or direct mail. More specific mailing instructions and contact information may be found on the first page of the packet.

Those who wish to try out may also bring the completed packet, a recent color photograph and the registration fee to the first audition session. Any additional questions about the audition process should be directed to the Attack via email at attack@jaxsharks.com.
