The Philadelphia Soul Become First Arena Team To Partner With YCP

PHILADELPHIA (June 22, 2015) – The Philadelphia Soul announce a partnership with the You Can Play mission, which insures the safety and inclusion of all individuals in sports – including LGBT athletes, coaches and fans. This partnership will include a You Can Play theme night on Friday, June 26 as the Soul host the Tampa Bay Storm at 7:30 p.m. The Soul are the first professional Philadelphia sports team to partner with YCP to host this type of event.

"The Philadelphia Soul have become a leader in the Arena Football League in working for diversity and inclusion and You Can Play is extremely proud to be associated with this team," said Glenn Witman, co-founder of You Can Play and Philadelphia native. "The Soul's athletes, staff, coaches and fans are sending an important message that talent and skill matter in sports, not sexual orientation."

“On behalf of the Philadelphia Soul we are excited and honored to partner with the You Can Play Project,” said COO John Adams. “We believe that athletes should be judged by their character, work ethic, and talent, not their race, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.”

To help support the YCP mission, the Soul are offering several corporate packages with a portion of the proceeds going to the YCP project. Contact Corinne Kolesinskas with the Soul at 215.253.4900 x180 or corinne@philadelphiasoul.com. Regardless of race, ethnicity or gender; if you can play YOU CAN PLAY.
