AFL, CBS Sports Network to flex Week 14 matchup

Tuesday June 9, 2015

CHICAGO – The Arena Football League and CBS Sports Network have announced that the Week 14 “Arena Football on CBS Sports Network” matchup will now feature the Jacksonville Sharks hosting the Cleveland Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. ET on June 27. The originally scheduled contest between Arizona Rattlers and LA KISS will now air on ESPN3 at 10:00 p.m. ET.

After getting off to the worst start in franchise history, the Jacksonville Sharks (6-5) have rallied back from 0-4 to take the lead the American Conference South Division. Picked by many to contend for an ArenaBowl championship prior to the start of the 2015 season, Les Moss’ squad has played up to expectations over the last month. With a franchise record 14 sacks in 11 games, defensive end Joe Sykes is on pace to shatter his own League record of 16, while wide receivers Joe Hills and Anthony Jones are each closing in on 100 receptions apiece. Fullback Derrick Ross also continues to rewrite the running back record book, already setting new franchise marks for rushing yards (407) and touchdowns (22) in his first season with the club.

Meanwhile, the defending American Conference champion Cleveland Gladiators (6-5) will look to avenge a three-point loss to the Sharks at home earlier this year and return the favor in Jacksonville. Though the Gladiators’ follow-up to last year’s dramatic and record-setting ride to ArenaBowl XXVII has been tumultuous at times, Cleveland remains in the heart of the playoff race and will no doubt try to unseat the rival Philadelphia Soul (10-1) for control of the East Division right to the end. A conference win over another postseason contender in Jacksonville would certainly help the cause.

Kickoff for the Week 14 “Arena Football on CBS Sports Network” matchup is set for 7:00 p.m. ET Saturday, June 27.
