Philadelphia Looks to Catch Outlaws in First Ever Boardwalk Bowl

PHILADELPHIA (May 24, 2015) - The Philadelphia Soul (8-1) look to keep the momentum going in Week 10 against the Las Vegas Outlaws (3-5). The Soul will face the Outlaws in the first ever Boardwalk Bowl on Saturday, May 30 at 6 p.m. in Atlantic City, NJ at Boardwalk Hall.

The Soul are coming off a big win against the Tampa Bay Storm after losing for the first time this season. The Soul got an outstanding individual performance from Joe Goosby, while the entire Soul defense played to win. This is the first time the Outlaws and Soul will play each other since Las Vegas joined the league last season.

The first match-up to look for in the game is Soul DB James Romain up against Outlaw WR Jomo Wilson. Wilson leads the Outlaws offense with 491 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns for the season. Romain has 24.5 total tackles for the season and is second in the AFL in interceptions with six. Soul DB LaRico Stevenson still leads the team defensively with 43.0 total tackles for the year and is another key to stopping the Outlaw receivers. Clinton Solomon is another Outlaw WR for the Soul defense to keep an eye on. Solomon has 389-yards and five touchdowns for the season.

Soul offensive line and QB Dan Raudabaugh will have to be prepared for LB Tanner Varner who leads the Outlaw defense with 48.0 total tackles for the season. Varner is ranked fourth overall in the AFL in tackles. Raudabaugh is still the AFL leader in passing yards with 2,550 and a league-high 58 touchdowns for the season. Joe Goosby will be a key component for the Soul coming off a spectacular game in Week 9, winning three of the expanded awards. Goosby is second in defensive leaders for the Soul and has 34.0 total tackles for the season.

Another match-up to look for is Soul WR Marco Thomas against Outlaw DB Donovan Henley. Henley is second in defensive leaders for the Outlaws and has 30.5 total tackles for the season. Thomas continues to lead the Soul’s receivers with 879-yards for the season and 16 total touchdowns. Thomas is ranked third in the AFL in receiving leaders. WR Ryan McDaniel should be another player the Outlaw defense keeps an eye on. McDaniel has 716-yards and 17 touchdowns for the season.

In Week 11, the Soul will host the New Orleans VooDoo on Saturday, June 6 at 6 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center. This game will honor the women of the Soul front office with Women in Sports Day. The Week 11 game will also be Sports Law Night.
