London Crawford Re-Activated From Injured Reserve

Monday May 18, 2015

Wide receiver scored 33 touchdowns in first 15 games of AFL career

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced Monday that the team has re-activated wide receiver London Crawford from injured reserve.

The 28-year-old Crawford (6’2”, 215) enters his third season with the Sharks and in the Arena Football League. He returns to the active roster after completing rehabilitation from a season-ending knee injury suffered in Week 12 of the 2014 season. Prior to his injury, Crawford had emerged as one of the top playmaking wide receivers in the AFL, ranking among the league leaders in all three major receiving categories. In 10 games last season, Crawford totaled 975 yards and 23 touchdowns on 75 receptions, ranking second, second and third on the team in those respective categories.

As a rookie in 2013, Crawford spent the first half of the season on injured reserve after suffering an injury in the Sharks’ preseason scrimmage. Crawford made his AFL debut in Week 13 of that season, and went on to catch 23 passes for 243 yards and six touchdowns in five appearances during his rookie campaign.

In addition to his production as a receiver, Crawford also totaled 11 rushing attempts for 31 yards and four touchdowns over his first two seasons. Overall, Crawford has scored a total of 33 touchdowns in the first 15 games of his AFL career, an average of more than two touchdowns per contest.

Before joining the Sharks, Crawford competed in training camp with the Houston Texans prior to the start of the 2010 National Football League season. He also spent time on the practice roster of both the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Crawford attended the University of Arkansas, where he totaled 53 catches for 747 yards and four touchdowns during his time with the Razorbacks.

The Sharks also announced Monday that Mac linebacker Pierre Turner has been placed on league suspension. Following the transactions, the Jacksonville roster remains at the League maximum of 24 active players.
