Former USF Standout Ryne Giddins rejoins the Storm

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm has reacquired defensive lineman Ryne Giddins, announced Storm Vice President of Football Operations Jeff Gooch.

“Ryne was with us all throughout training camp,” said Gooch. “He has upside and is a welcome addition to our defense.”

Giddins (6-foot-3, 245 lbs., South Florida) is a local product from Armwood H.S. (Seffner, FL) entering his first season in the Arena Football League with the Storm. The former South Florida Bull spent all of 2015 training camp with the Storm. He joins an already strong defense that is ranked in the top-5 of several defensive categories including: scoring defense (2nd), total defense (2nd), pass defense (2nd) and red zone defense (1st).

Collegiately, Giddins played four seasons with the Bulls, starting in 23-of-51 games played. For his collegiate career he tallied 118 total tackles, and 32 tackles for loss including 19.5 sacks. Giddins also recorded four forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and an interception. His performance during his junior season (2012) earned him First-Team All-Big East honors.

Giddins began his professional career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League when he signed with the team in 2014 as an undrafted rookie free agent.

The Five-Time World Champion Tampa Bay Storm is in its 28th season in the Arena Football League. The Storm will host “Military Appreciation Night,” when it hosts the Philadelphia Soul on Friday, May 22, on AMALIE Motor Oil Field at Amalie Arena.
