Defensive Back DJ Johnson Inks Deal with Predators

 Preds Strengthen Secondary with Addition of DB DJ Johnson

ORLANDO
– Feb. 28, 2015 – The Orlando Predators have announced that the team has agreed to terms with second-year defensive back James “DJ” Johnson.

Johnson (6-0, 200, Texas Tech) spent the 2014 season with the San Antonio Talons, where he accumulated 32.5 total tackles with 13 pass breakups, four interceptions, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble.

“DJ is a fluid athlete for a player of his size and has great physical talent,” said Head Coach Rob Keefe. “With that year of experience under his belt, I expect DJ to take great strides in 2015.”

A native of Austin, Texas, Johnson played collegiately at Texas Tech University, where he was a two-time All-Big 12 Conference selection. As a senior in 2012, he registered 90 tackles with one sack, two tackles for loss, five pass breakups, and two interceptions. A three-year starter for the Red Raiders, Johnson collected 239 total tackles with one sack, 4.5 tackles for loss, 18 pass breakups, eight interceptions, and four forced fumbles over the course of his collegiate career.

The Orlando Predators 2015 season opener against the Philadelphia Soul is scheduled for 7:00pm on Sunday, March 29 at the Amway Center in downtown Orlando. Tickets are available for purchase by calling 844-455-PRED (7733).
