 AFL veteran joins Shock ranks for 2015

SPOKANE, WA (January 6, 2015) – The Spokane Shock have been assigned quarterback Carson Coffman to the 2015 roster.

Coffman (6-3, 215, Kansas State) joins the Shock for his fourth season as a member of the Arena Football League. During the 2014 season, Coffman played in 14 games for the Iowa Barnstormers under now Portland Thunder head coach Mike Hohensee on his way to completing 236 of 401 pass attempts for 2,970 yards and 53 touchdowns.

In his second year and first season as a starter under center in the AFL with the Chicago Rush in 2013, Coffman completed 283 of 467 pass attempts for 3,583 yards and 73 touchdowns. During his rookie campaign with the Utah Blaze in 2012, Coffman served as the back up to league MVP Tommy Grady and saw limited action.

Coffman played his collegiate career at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. During his senior season in 2010, Coffman completed 171 of 263 pass attempts (65 percent completion percentage) for 2,060 yards and 14 touchdowns. As a Wildcat, his career completion percentage of 63.4 ranks first in school history and while he ranks fourth all-time in career passing efficiency with a rating of 134.

“You can’t stress enough how much experience matters at the quarterback position in this league,” said Shock head Coach Andy Olson. “Carson took Chicago to the playoffs two seasons ago and has won some big games. He has great upside and we’re looking forward to having him join our roster this season.”

The Shock’s 2015 AFL regular season will officially kick off on Saturday, March 28, 2015 against the ArenaBowl champion Arizona Rattlers in Phoenix, AZ. Spokane’s first home game will come on Saturday, April 4 at 7:00 p.m. PT at Spokane Veteran’s Memorial Arena against the Philadelphia Soul. To view the Shock’s 2015 schedule (PDF), click here.
