Fourth Former Pittsburgh Power Player Comes to Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (December 30, 2014) – The Arena Football League’s Philadelphia Soul announce defensive back Brandon Freeman (6’2, 205, Massachusetts) has joined former Pittsburgh Power teammates – wide receiver Tyrone Goard, defensive lineman Justin Lawrence and offensive lineman Keith Newell – as a member of the Soul for the 2015 season.

“Brandon was definitely a guy that was high on our list,” said Soul Head Coach Clint Dolezel. “He is comfortable with Coach (Derek) Stingley’s system and had the results to back it up. This is a great addition to our secondary.”

Freeman, who is entering his fifth AFL season, had a career year in Pittsburgh in 2014. The former Minuteman recorded career highs in solo tackles (52), assists (21), total tackles (62.5), pass breakups (10) and interceptions (8), while adding two fumble recoveries in 2014.

Brandon began his AFL career with the Arizona Rattlers in 2010, where he recorded 52.0 total tackles, six pass breakups and three interceptions. He spent 2012 with the Chicago Rush where he tallied 40.5 total tackles, three pass breakups and one interception. Freeman then went to Pittsburgh in 2013 and had 59.5 total tackles, seven pass breakups, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and two interceptions under then-head coach Derek Stingley.

Freeman, a native of Ruther Glen, VA, played four years collegiately at UMass where he was a major contributor in the secondary and on special teams.
