SaberCats Add Two More In Free Agency

Friday November 21, 2014

SAN JOSE, Calif.– The SaberCats continue to build out the roster in Arena Football free agency, picking up San Jose native WR Diondre Borel and DB Justin Green.

“Borel brings a lot of versatility to our team, and gives us options at multiple positions,” said Owner and Head Coach Darren Arbet. “And Green, his combination of incredible speed and size allows him to match up with anyone.”

Borel (6-0, 195, Utah State) will be entering his first season in the AFL. He signed with the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League as an undrafted free agent in 2011, and has spent time with Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans organizations. Borel played four years of college football for the Utah State Aggies, where he was the starting quarterback from 2008 to 2010. For his career, he finished second in school history with 6,698 passing yards and 8,096 total yards from scrimmage. In 2009, Borel set the school record for total offense in one season at 3,343 yards and was named Utah State’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2008 as a sophomore.

Green (5-11, 200, Illinois) will also be entering his first season in the AFL. He signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2013, and saw action in two games. Earlier this year, Green was traded from New England to the Dallas Cowboys. He spent his college career at the University of Illinois, where he was a Three-time All-Big Ten Academic selection. Before his sophomore season in 2010, he was moved from running back to corner back two weeks before the start of the season. Over the next three seasons, Green recorded 106.0 tackles and 13 pass breakups as a defensive back.
