Storm center Raymond McNeil returns to Tampa Bay
TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm has retained center Raymond McNeil, announced Storm vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch.
“Raymond is a veteran center that we can depend on,” said Gooch. “He started in all 18 games last season and has shown durability throughout his career. We also hope that his veteran leadership will help guide some of the younger players on our team.”
McNeil (6-foot-2, 315 lbs., Fort Valley State) returns to Tampa Bay for his second season in a Storm uniform. He started at center in all 18 games played during the 2014 season.
He spent the 2013 season with the San Jose SaberCats, starting in 12-of-15 games on an offensive line that finished ranked fifth in sacks allowed with 20. He has five years of AFL experience having also spent time with the Milwaukee Mustangs, Utah Blaze and Spokane Shock. For his AFL career, McNeil has started in 76-of-80 games.
Prior to joining the AFL, McNeil earned All-af2 honors in 2008 and 2009 as a member of the Milwaukee Mustangs.
McNeil played collegiately at Fort Valley State (GA) where he was an All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection. He would also go on to play in the Magnolia Gridiron Classic All-Star game.
