Tivis Returns to Soul, Assigned Three Rookies

PHILADELPHIA (October 7, 2014) – The Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League announce the return of OL Neal Tivis (6’5, 320, Abliene Christian) and welcome DB/KR Dwayne Hollis (5’10, 180, NC Wesleyan), DL Jake Metz (6’7, 255, Shippensburg) and OL Lloyd Morrison (6’3, 300, Fordham) to the 2015 roster.

“Our job as a coaching and football staff is to make the training camp roster the most competitive it can be,” Soul head coach Clint Dolezel said. “Getting Tivis back while adding Hollis, Metz and Morrison is a step in that direction. We like what these players bring to the table and will make us a better team for camp.”

Tivis played in one game on the offensive line for the Soul in the 2014 season. In 2013, he played in 10 games for the Utah Blaze and started in four in his rookie season with the Blaze. At Abliene Christian, he started in all 12 games and became Second-Team All-Conference.

In 2014, Hollis was named All-PIFL First Team for both defensive back and kick returner as a member of the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks. He ranked No. 2 in total tackles (66.0) and No. 1 in interceptions (10). In his college career, Hollis recorded 11 interceptions, returned for 1,440 total yards and five kick return touchdowns.

In 2012, Metz started in all 13 games and broke the season record sacks with 11.5. He became Shippensburg’s first defensive AP All-American as well as First-Team Daktronics All-American. In 2011, he started in all 11 games, tied for the lead sacks (7.5) and lead with tackles for loss (10.5). Metz participated in Detroit Lions Mini-Camp in 2014.

Morrison, a rookie from Fordham University, started in all 11 games as a left guard for the 2012 season. In 2010, he was a member of the third best offensive line in the league, allowing only 16 sacks.

“MEET MARQUES COLSTON” Event is scheduled for Friday, October 10 from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at Chickie’s & Pete’s in South Philadelphia. The event is open to the public as the Soul officially welcome Marques to the Soul family. Media availability will follow official welcome of the new co-owner.
