Thursday August 14, 2014
CHICAGO – The NET10 Wireless Arena Football League has announced the schedule of events for ArenaBowl XXVII Championship Week in Cleveland, Ohio.
ArenaBowl Championship Week officially kicks off on Wednesday, August 20 with the ArenaBowl Kids Clinic at Quicken Loans Arena. AFL players and staff will be on-hand from 6:00-8:00 p.m. ET to instruct future Arena Football stars ages 6-12 in various non-contact football drills and skills sessions on the official field of ArenaBowl XXVII.
The annual AFL Awards Ceremony is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 21 at Quicken Loans Arena. AFL fans are invited to join players, coaches and executives from around the League, as well as the 2014 NET10 Wireless ArenaBowl Dream Team and both the National Conference champion Arizona Rattlers and American Conference champion Cleveland Gladiators, at “The Q” to celebrate the 2014 AFL season. The night will culminate with the announcement of the League’s top individual honors. Admission to the AFL Awards Ceremony is free.
ArenaBowl XXVII Media Day will take place on Friday, August 22 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. ET on the field at Quicken Loans Arena. Players and coaches from both the Cleveland Gladiators and Arizona Rattlers will be available for interviews and photos with the media during this time. This event will be open to the public with free admission as well.
On game day, ArenaBowl Fan Fest will begin on Gateway Plaza outside “The Q” at 5:00 p.m. ET and run until 7:30 p.m. A staple of ArenaBowl Week, Fan Fest will offer a total interactive Arena Football experience, challenging fans’ football skills while providing the opportunity to learn about the unique game of Arena Football. Attendees will also have the ability to see The James F. Foster Trophy while viewing numerous exhibit areas.
ArenaBowl XXVII between the Arizona Rattlers (15-3) and Cleveland Gladiators (17-1) will kick off at 8:00 p.m. ET from Quicken Loans Arena and be televised live on ESPN. The Rattlers will be making their fourth consecutive ArenaBowl appearance and ninth championship game overall as they look to become just the second team in AFL history – and first since 1990 – to win three League titles in a row, while the Gladiators are entering their first-ever ArenaBowl contest with a chance to bring Cleveland its first major pro sports championship in 50 years.
