AFL Fans to Nominate Candidates for Arena Football Hall of Fame
Thursday June 5, 2014
CHICAGO – The NET10 Wireless Arena Football League is encouraging fans to submit nominees for the Arena Football Hall of Fame Class of 2014.
Fans can log in on the League’s AFNation forum, powered by bublaa, and navigate to the “Arena Football Hall of Fame Class of 2014 Nominations” thread to nominate up to five candidates.
In order to be nominated for the 2014 Hall of Fame Class, candidates have to meet four criteria.
- If a player was active before 1989, he must have played for at least two seasons. For players after 1989, a minimum of three seasons of service are required.
- All players must be retired for three complete seasons. To be inducted into the Class of 2014, players who retired in 2011 or earlier are eligible.
- Coaches must have been active for a minimum of five seasons and need not be retired.
- There is no minimum number of seasons required for contributors, but significant advancement of the AFL is a prerequisite.
In conjunction with the Hall of Fame Advisory Board, fans will have two weeks to submit names for consideration. Fans will then have their voices heard once again throughout the final month of the regular season by voting on the final ballot on ArenaFootball.com. Current Arena Football Hall of Fame members will also place their official ballots during the final week of the 2014 regular season. All votes will then be turned in to the Hall of Fame Operating Board of Directors, who will officially select the 2014 Arena Football Hall of Fame Class.
