Sharks Trade for All-Arena Defensive Back Vic Hall
Friday May 23, 2014
Veteran earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2011
JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced Friday that the team has acquired defensive back Vic Hall from the Arizona Rattlers in exchange for future considerations.
The 27-year-old Hall (5’10” 190) is in the midst of his fourth season in the Arena Football League. Prior to Friday’s trade, Hall had appeared in five games with the Rattlers in 2014, totaling seven tackles (six solo), two pass breakups, a fumble recovery and an interception.
Hall spent each of his first three AFL seasons with the Chicago Rush, first breaking onto the scene with a dominant performance as a rookie in 2011. Tabbed as the AFL’s Defensive Player of the Year and a First-Team All-Arena selection, Hall racked up 15 interceptions that season, a total that ties him for second on the League’s all-time single season list. Hall returned those interceptions for a total of 222 yards and two touchdowns, adding 109.0 total tackles and 24 pass breakups.
After recording just one interception in his nine games played during the 2012 campaign, Hall bounced back to lead the Rush with eight picks in 2013. Last season, he appeared in a total of 16 games, recording 90.5 tackles and 19 pass breakups, ranking second on his team in both categories.
Before beginning his AFL career, Hall spent time with both the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets prior to the 2010 NFL season. He was waived by the Jets on August 24, 2010. Hal spent his collegiate career at the University of Virginia, where he saw action at cornerback, wide receiver and quarterback. Hall is a native of Lynchburg, Virginia.
