Philadelphia Soul Co-owner Cosmo DeNicola Addresses Team
PHILADELPHIA, (April 29, 2014) – The concept of Brotherly Love is no joke to the city of Philadelphia, and today, in the wake of the inexplicable controversy surrounding the NBA and Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, Philadelphia Soul co-owner Cosmo DeNicola gathered his team to address the issue.
“While many personalities and franchise owners have addressed the issue publicly, I felt it was extremely important to speak to our players in person,” said DeNicola. “I wanted to make sure that they knew that the comments made by Sterling, in no way, reflect the beliefs of myself and the rest of the Philadelphia Soul ownership group.”
In recognizing the despicable nature of Sterling’s alleged racist comments and the bigotry expressed, DeNicola and the Philadelphia Soul team focused on an expression team unity, positivity, and brotherly love instead. In photos taken this morning, the organization gathered as a team and held signs displaying #TEAM, #LOVE, and #FAMILY.
“These gifted athletes are not just players,” continued DeNicola. “They deserve respect for the positive contribution they make to our community, our fans and their families.”
The Philadelphia Soul is coming off an important win on Sunday, where they secured a thrilling 60-55 victory against the Iowa Barnstormers. The game marked the first Arena Football League broadcast on the “ESPN” Family of Networks” since ArenaBowl XXII where the Soul defeated the San Jose SaberCats to win the 2008 championship.
