Rattlers QB Nick Davila named Al Lucas AFL Pulse Hero Award winner
Monday August 12, 2013
Chicago, IL – Arizona Rattler QB Nick Davila has been awarded the Al Lucas AFL Pulse Hero Award for his work in the community, announced by the League office today.
The Rattlers organization prides itself in giving back to the community of Phoenix and Davila is no exception.
“I always go back to the Spider-Man line ‘With great power comes great responsibility,’ when you play professional sports like we do, kids look up to you and it’s important to be a positive influence and give them a positive role model,” said Davila.
Throughout the season Davila has spent time at numerous organizations across the Valley. From running football drills and playing tag at the Boys and Girls Club, to arts and crafts at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital, serving dinner to families at St. Vincent de Paul, to spending time with kids at Save the Family, Davila enjoys being a part of his community.
“I love giving back, especially when it involves kids,” said Davila. “When you can put a smile on a kid’s face, you never know just how far that goes.”
The Al Lucas AFL Pulse Hero Award is presented annually to the player who makes the most significant contribution to both his community and the game of Arena Football. The award was created in honor of Al Lucas, the late Los Angeles Avengers lineman who believed in giving back to his community and growing the AFL.
