Rookie Standout Joins NFL Training Camp
DES MOINES – The Iowa Barnstormers are proud to announce that Wide Receiver Marcus Harris has been signed by the New York Giants. Harris will be added to the Giants’ 90 man training camp roster and will join the team immediately in Albany, NY.
Harris joined the Barnstormers for his rookie AFL season in 2013 and had an immediate impact. In 15 games, he recorded 94 receptions for 1,223 yards and 19 touchdowns. In addition, he had over 1,200 return yards and he led the team with over 2,400 all purpose yards. Upon completion of the season, Harris was awarded the Ben Silverstein Character Award for his contributions both on the field and within the community.
Harris, a Murray State product, was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Detroit Lions in 2011. He later spent time with the Tennessee Titans. During his time at Murray State, Harris became the team's all-time career receptions leader with 214 and career receiving yards leader with 2,471. He also ranks second in touchdowns with 21. He garnered Second-Team All-American honors by the Associated Press and The Sports Network, as well as Third-Team All-American honors from Phil Steele Magazine.
The first chance for Barnstormers fans to see Harris in uniform with the Giants will be this Sunday, August 18th when the Giants battle the Indianapolis Colts in a nationally televised pre-season game on FOX. Kickoff is set for 6:00pm CST.
