President Derrick Brooks to Begin Immediate Coaching Search
TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm has elected not to retain head coach Dave Ewart, team president Derrick Brooks announced this morning. Brooks will begin a search for a new head coach immediately. The Storm season ended this past Saturday with a 69-62 loss at Jacksonville in the first round of the Arena Football League’s 2013 playoffs.
“We appreciate the hard work and selfless dedication that Dave Ewart has given to the Tampa Bay Storm as our head coach these past three seasons,” said Brooks. “Unfortunately, our results have not met expectations and I believe a coaching change is in the best interest of the organization. We wish coach Ewart all the best in his future endeavors and thank him for all he has given to the Storm organization and our players during his tenure with us.”
Named head coach on February 17, 2011, the 2013 season was Ewart’s third at the helm and his 10th overall with the organization. He served as director of player personnel and assistant coach from 2002-10. During his tenure as head coach, Ewart held a regular season record of 22-32, with the lone playoff loss coming this year. The Storm finished the 2013 season with a regular season record of 7-11.
