Sunday August 4, 2013

Jacksonville, FL – The Tampa Bay Storm (7-11, 0-1) was defeated by the number one seeded Jacksonville Sharks (12-6, 1-0) Saturday evening in front of a crowd of 7,899 fans at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, by a score of 62-69. The game turned on a Derrick Summers fumble return which put the Sharks ahead with four seconds remaining.

The Storm was in control from the start and led the entire game, but unraveled in the final quarter. The Sharks scored 36 points, and Sharks defensive lineman Derrick Summers recovered a fumble for a touchdown in the final seconds of the game, giving Jacksonville the lead for good.

The Storm defense pressured Sharks quarterback Bernard Morris and it caused him to make several errors including an interception by Storm defensive back Donald Smith and two fumbles. One of the fumbles would be recovered by Storm defensive lineman RJ Roberts who returned it four yards for the score.

Bernard Morris completed 28-of-37 passes for 266 yards and six touchdowns. He would also rush for one as well. Jeron Harvey was the Sharks leading receiver with 13 receptions for 113 yards and three touchdowns.
