WR Kenny Stafford Heads to Montreal
Thursday June 6, 2013
PITTSBURGH, PA (June 4, 2013) – Pittsburgh Power wide receiver Kenny Stafford has signed a contract with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Terms of the deal were not released.
Stafford (6’2”, 205) received an invitation to Montreal’s rookie camp last week and performed well enough to earn a contract and a roster spot in the Alouettes main camp, which began this past Saturday. He joins a Montreal team led by Anthony Calvillo, the CFL’s all-time career passing leader with 78,494 yards.
Stafford was signed by the Power on May 22 and played in one AFL game against the Cleveland Gladiators, registering six catches for 119 yards and two touchdowns in Pittsburgh’s 55-44 come-from-behind home win on May 25. The Power have placed Stafford on the AFL’s “Other League Exempt” list and retain his rights should he not make the Alouettes’ final roster.
Stafford attended training camp with the Atlanta Falcons in 2012 after completing his collegiate career at the University of Toledo.
The Pittsburgh Power visit the San Jose SaberCats this Saturday, June 8. Kickoff from HP Pavilion is at 10:30 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast live on TribLIVE Radio SportsTalk. Pittsburgh’s next home game is Saturday, June 15 against the division-leading Philadelphia Soul at 7:00 p.m. at CONSOL Energy Center.
