TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm is pleased to announce the addition of defensive lineman Uluao (OO-loo-ow) ‘Junior’ Aumavae (aw-ma-VYE).
“Junior is a big kid that adds depth to the defensive line as we get close to training camp,” said vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch.
Aumavae (6-foot-2, 310 lbs., Minnesota State University, Mankato) will enter his first season in the Arena Football League with the Tampa Bay Storm. He began his professional career with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2010 and has spent the past two seasons playing indoor football.
He began his college career at Western Washington and earned First-Team All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference honors prior to transferring to Minnesota State after WWU cut its football program. While at Minnesota State, Aumavae made an immediate impact for the Mavericks as he was named First-Team All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and the NSIC Defensive Newcomer of the Year following the 2009 season.
The Palmer, Alaska native was named the Alaska Lineman of the Year his senior season (2003). A versatile lineman, he played both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball and earned First-Team All-State honors as an offensive and defensive lineman.
