 DL Returns to Arizona

Mesa, AZ - The Arizona Rattlers announced today that defensive lineman Marcus Pittman has been reassigned on a two-year contract.

"We are very excited to have Marcus back with us; he has been a big part of our success over the last three years," said Rattlers' GM and Head Coach Kevin Guy. "He adds to a strong core group of guys for us and it has been fun to watch him mature as both a player and a person."

This season will mark Pittman's fourth with the Rattlers. Playing in 17 regular season games last year, Pittman collected 28 tackles (24 solo), 10.5 for loss, 8.5 sacks, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one blocked kick and one safety. His sack total tied the single-season record that he set in 2011.

Pittman, 6'5" 290, played in all 18 games in 2011. He recorded 27.5 tackles, 8.5 sacks, five pass breakups, one interception, and two forced fumbles.

Prior to the Rattlers, Pittman played with the Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings (formerly af2) in 2009. He attended training camp with the New Orleans Saints in 2008 and also spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Pittman played nose tackle for Troy University and was a member of teams that won the Sunbelt Conference title in both 2006 and 2007. The 2006 squad went on to win the New Orleans Bowl as well.
