OL Mario Henderson Joins Blaze Offense

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Blaze have agreed to terms with former NFL offensive tackle Mario Henderson, the team announced today. Henderson is the second offensive lineman Utah has added to the 2013 roster this offseason.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to bring in a player of Mario’s caliber,” said Head Coach Ron James. “Clearly, his resume speaks for itself. This is a guy that has battled against the best pass rushers at the highest level. He’s the big, physical lineman that fits our mold. I can’t wait to see what Mario brings to our offensive front.”

Henderson (6-7, 355, Florida State) was originally selected in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. He went on to play in 44 games with 28 starts over his four-year tenure in Oakland, including 16 consecutive starts at the demanding left tackle position in 2009.

Most recently, Henderson participated in 2012 training camp with the San Diego Chargers, where he played in all four preseason contests.
