Gladiators offense sputters in loss
CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Gladiators fell to the Philadelphia Soul 55-33 on Sunday night, in front of a crowd of 4,737 at Quicken Loans Arena. With the loss, the Gladiators three-game win streak is snapped, and fall to 6-4. Philadelphia improves to 8-3, and a full 1.5 games ahead of the Gladiators in the East Division.
Offensively, the Gladiators could not find a rhythm. John Dutton completed a season low 10-of-23 passing for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Dominick Goodman hauled in just five passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns. Robert Redd added one touchdown on five catches for 58 yards.
In relief of Dutton, Matt Bassuener completed 3-of-7 passes for 33 yards and a touchdown. Jeramie Richardson added a rushing score in the loss.
Dan Raudabaugh completed 20-of-34 passes for 157 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions for the Soul. Tiger Jones finished with a game-high three touchdowns on seven catches and 58 yards. Donovan Morgan, in his first game back since the first time the two teams met, finished with a game-high nine catches for 84 yards and two touchdowns.
In a pass-driven league, Derrick Ross carried the ball 21 times for 66 yards and two touchdowns for the Soul.
The Gladiators travel to Iowa for a matchup with the Barnstormers on the NFL Network this Friday night. Kickoff is set for 8 pm ET. Check your local listings for the NFL Network in your area.
