Defensive back led league in pass breakups during 2011 season

JACKSONVILLE – Yet another key member of the Jacksonville Sharks’ ArenaBowl XXIV Championship team has returned to the squad, this time via a trade. On the eve of their matchup against the Philadelphia Soul, the Sharks acquired defensive back Micheaux Robinson from Philadelphia in exchange for defensive lineman T.J. Langley.

With this trade, Robinson returns to the team with which he spent each of the previous two seasons. He is currently the team’s all-time leader in tackles (196.5) and interceptions (18). Last year, he led the AFL with 46 pass breakups, ranked tied for fourth with 11 interceptions. His performance earned him a spot on the All-Arena First Team following the 2011 season.

During the Sharks’ three playoff games, Robinson racked up 14.5 total tackles, had two of the team’s four interceptions and notched seven pass breakups, tying him with Terrance Smith for the team lead in that category.

Robinson also made an impact in the Sharks’ secondary during the team’s inaugural 2010 season, recording 70 tackles and seven interceptions en route to being named a Second-Team All-Arena performer. Before the trade, he had 37 total tackles, one interception, three pass breakups and three fumble recoveries in eight games with the Soul.

Robinson is in the midst of his fourth AFL season, as he began his career with the Orlando Predators in 2007. He also played two seasons with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers of af2 and has spent time on the roster of the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes. The 29-year-old Robinson is a native of Fostoria, Ohio who played at Otterbein University before beginning his professional career.
