SaberCats Add Wide Receiver Hank Edwards

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The SaberCats today announced the addition of former Tampa Bay Storm wide receiver Hank Edwards.
"Edwards is a proven, successful and reliable receiver in this league," said Owner/Head Coach Darren Arbet. "He has the ability to consistently contribute on offense and we look forward to having him here in San Jose."
Edwards (6-3, 215, Texas Southern) most recently spent time with the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League in 2011. In 15 games for Tampa Bay he hauled in 101 receptions for 1,293 yards and 23 touchdowns. Edwards experienced a strong season in 2010 with the Storm, nabbing 100 passes for 1,556 yards and 30 touchdowns. After his rookie season with the team in 2007 he turned in a terrific sophomore campaign in 2008, finishing the season ranked second in the AFL in yards per catch and 14th in receiving touchdowns, while leading the team in touchdowns, yards receiving and yards per catch.
Edwards has also spent time with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. In 2009 he appeared in two games and had two receptions for 17 yards.
As a senior at Texas Southern he led the Tigers with 679 receiving yards, 41 catches and three touchdowns. Edwards ranked eighth in the Southwestern Conference in receptions per game and receiving yards per game. He finished his collegiate career with 80 receptions for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns.
A native of Hollywood, Fla., Edwards attended Hollywood high school, where he played quarterback. He spends the offseason coaching at his high school alma mater.
