This afternoon, Tampa radio personality Steve Duemig of 620 WDAE is reported that Tampa Bay Storm general manager and head coach Tim Marcum is being let go by the new ownership as a consequence of the fallout of the investigation involving a lawsuit between previous Storm owner Tom Nucci and various parties. The move was a hotly debated topic on his show all afternoon.
But according to a TBO.com report, Tampa Bay Sports & Entertainment, the company that purchased the Tampa Bay Storm last month is denying the report.
In addition, after placing several inquiries. ArenaFan has received communication from the Tampa Bay Storm:
FROM: Bill Wickett, communications director for Tampa Bay Sports & Entertainment
"Tim Marcum has not been fired," Wickett said. "Beyond that, we have no further comment."
The vague response leaves open the possibility that there still may be some fallout from the situation.
Players are scheduled to report in two days, with the first preseason game set to be played against the Jacksonville Sharks in Jacksonville on February 28th. The regular season is set to begin in 25 days.
