First Season Ever. Check.
BALTIMORE, MD - The Washington Valor (3-11) walked out with a W Friday night against the Baltimore Brigade (4-10) inside of Royal Farms Arena in front of 6,089 fans. Their 41-35 win led the Valor to a 3-1 season series win over the Brigade. Baltimore will head to Philly for a playoff game next weekend.
The Valor ended their inaugural season on a high note, winning the last two out of three, both against their regional rival the Brigade. Washington saw a new starter under center, Warren Smith Jr. . In his first start for the team and first start since late 2015, he was voted Offensive Player of the Game, completing 84% of his passes, throwing for 229 yards and five touchdowns, also adding rushing score. Baltimore's own Varmah Sonie was voted Defensive Player of the Game, the defensive back accounted for two interceptions, four pass breakups and 10 total tackles.
MVP of the Game? Roger "Spider-Man" Jackson. The Valor wide receiver caught 10 passes for 94 yards and hauled in two touchdowns, one an amazing one-handed grab to put the Valor up with less than a minute left in the game. A goal-line stand against the Brigade on their final possession held the lead to end the night. The 2017 Arena Football League playoff match-ups are now set. #4 Baltimore Brigade at #1 Philadelphia Soul at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12th. #3 Cleveland Gladiators will fly to #2 Tampa Bay Storm and play some Monday night football on August 14th at 7:00 p.m.
