Dan Raudabaugh was benched midway through the third quarter, and backup quarterback, Bryan Randall stepped in and held his own in the second half, and completed 9-of-15 passes for 127 yards and three touchdowns. This explains the entire game for the Soul, losing to the Power 64-34. Raudabaugh threw three interceptions and made constant mistakes all night, leaving questions for this coming playoff game against Cleveland next Saturday.
“Disappointed doesn't begin to describe how we are feeling right now,” said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. “You hate having to back into the playoffs, but we will be rooting for Cleveland and get in the right frame of mind to be ready for next week. It was in our hands, now we need the help.” Dolezel and the Soul got just that after Cleveland won 56-49 against the Storm.
Virgil Gray had an amazing return from injury for the Power with two interceptions on Raudabaugh. Gray and all the Power's defensive backs made the impact on tonight's game. Raudabaugh had no receivers open for most of the game, and when he did, he'd overthrow them, or they'd drop the football. Tiger Jones dropped four passes in the first quarter, which is very uncharacteristic for the future Hall of Famer. Markee White, standing in at 6-foot-7 was shut down by Gray all night. If you were wondering, Gray is 5-foot-9, almost a foot shorter than White.
The Soul were swept by the Power after tonight's game but will attempt to avoid just that against the Gladiators on Saturday. The Soul will need to finish the game on Saturday, as they've lost two games in the last seconds of a game this season.
