AFL Quickplay Week 5

Four weeks are in the books and we've seen the West Division get off to a flying start while the East Division has two winless teams out of three. Safe to say it's going to be interesting as we go the rest of the way with how the balance of wins is tipped to the West and South.

Last week's points aren't populating so we'll focus on the total game standings. We're seeing some familiar names on top of the list. User "pickeditagain" is fifth with 839 points while "skillet1" has 842 for the fourth spot. "CHILSTER2K" has 844 points which are good enough for third while "juanitoloc" has second place at 850 points.

But who's on top? It's the team with 854 points and a clever name, Unemployed Punters. It's for real. Yours truly is leading the game right now. But there's plenty of season left so it's no time to rest on my laurels. Let's get started and see who the Punters will field this week.

Everyone's in action this week so you have the full compliment of teams available. The schedule:Iowa at Jacksonville, Pittsburgh at New Orleans, Spokane at San Jose, Tampa Bay at Orlando, Cleveland at Philadelphia, San Antonio at Arizona and Chicago at Utah.

Per usual, we'll roll three quarterbacks. ERIK MEYER has become the best quarterback in the league for fantasy. He's consistent, finds all of his receivers and commits very turnovers. Spokane leads the league with 68.8 points per game and faces a San Jose team that gives up 59 points a night. Meyer averages 320 yards per game passing with 32 touchdowns and no interceptions in his first 153 attempts of the season. Meyer has become the must-start quarterback in the West until someone bumps him from the perch.

With Meyer doing so well, it's no surprise that ADRON TENNELL is the top wide receiver in fantasy this season. Tennell didn't get going until late in the game against Arizona but he still managed a four-touchdown night. Meyer is firing on all cylinders and Tennell is the go-to receiver for the Shock. He's also a go-to player and one of the three wide receivers for this week.

ADRIAN MCPHERSON of the Storm gets another quarterback spot on the roster. While he was disappointing last week, the overall value is still there for him. He hits for 253 yards a game passing and another 44 on the ground. Add 17 passing touchdowns and 12 rushing scored and it's a no-brainer to start him in the War On I-4. Orlando is going to play with a lot of pride but it might not be enough to avoid an 0-4 start for the Predators.

The other player I'm going with out of the Southern Division is JEFF HUGHLEY of Jacksonville. He's been consistent all season and is the third-best wide receiver so far in fantasy. He leads the Sharks with 30 catches, 343 yards and eight touchdowns. Add to that 400 yards on kick returns and he is another dual threat player who could go all the way any time he touches the ball.

The Eastern Division is going to be the same this week as it was last week with DERRICK ROSS and TIGER JONES of the Soul filling spots on my roster. Ross is the best fullback in the league and Jones has been solid this season. That and the rest of the division is 0-6 with 219 total points between Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

That just leaves the Central Division with a spot for a kicker and another quarterback. JJ RATERINK is going to get the call as the third quarterback despite a tough matchup with the Sharks. Raterink has quietly made his way into the top four in most categories for quarterbacks this season. Now he gets back JESSE SCHMIDT, the team's best wide receiver over the last three seasons and his number should go even higher.

At kicker, we'll try Jose Martinez of Chicago since the Rush have won two in a row and he's one of the few kickers to hit a field goal.

Good luck on Week 5.

Eastern Division
1 Derrick Ross FB PHI
2 Tiger Jones WR PHI

Central Division
1 JJ Raterink QB IOW
2 Jose Martinez K CHI

Southern Division
1 Adrian McPherson QB TB
2 Jeff Hughley WR JAX

Western Division
1 Erik Meyer QB SPO
2 Adron Tennell WR SPO
