ArenaFan Quickplay Week 2 Primer

The third week of the Arena Fan-tasy Quickplay game saw big points get piled up as each of the top 10 teams scored at least 225 points.

A tip of the cap goes out to users "RochRush" and "FirebirdDW" who tied for the best performance this week with 246 points each. "Skillet1" was one point behind at 245 so the points were plenty all around.

Overall the South Phoenix Bombers, owned by "juanitoloc" lead the season standings with 653 points. Just behind the top team are "CHILSTER2K" at 647 points, "pickeditagain" with 644, "wrndb411" right on their tails at 643 and "skillet1" rounds out the top five at 635 points.

Looking ahead to Week 4, this is going to be an unusual week with just five games on the docket. That means four teams will have byes and options will be limited in some divisions. This week's games are: New Orleans at Jacksonville, San Antonio at Tampa Bay, Arizona at Spokane, Philadelphia at Iowa and Pittsburgh at Chicago. The four teams on byes are: Utah (1-2), San Jose (2-1), Cleveland (0-3) and Orlando (0-3).

This leaves your Western Division options to Arizona and Spokane and those teams meet each other this week. The Eastern Division is limited to Pennsylvania teams (Soul and the Power). Southern team options are Jacksonville, Tampa and New Orleans. The Central Division has all teams available.Let's take a walk through setting the lineup for this week for the
Unemployed Punters and hopefully your team can find success this week.

In the East, options are limited to Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Pittsburgh has only scored 68 points in two games this season. Four teams (Arizona, Spokane, Jacksonville, Tampa) are each AVERAGING more than 68 points per game. It's difficult to endorse anyone on the Power due to the lack of offense so both players from the division will be members of the Soul.

TIGER JONES is third in the league in receiving with 120 yards per game and looks to be a safe play this week. DERRICK ROSS is second in the league with 16 rushing attempts and five touchdowns. There aren't any other real options that would be better than Ross and he fills the fullback spot.

Out of the Southern Division, ADRIAN MCPHERSON of Tampa Bay has quickly risen to must-start status as he's been a dual threat that the league can't quite contain. McPherson leads the league with 130 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns. JOE HILLS of the Storm leads the league with 467 yards, 15.6 yards per catch and 10 touchdown catches so we'll go with him as the second of our three wide receivers.

Next, we'll tackle the Western Division where Arizona visits Spokane and those are your only two options--Rattlers or Storm. In a way this is like trying to decide with $50 bill you want in your wallet as both teams are off to great starts with high-flying offenses.

But there are some key differences between the teams. Arizona is without wide receiver MAURICE PURIFY and he will be out through week eight as he is on injured reserve. The Rattlers also have great balance but it doesn't translate well in the passing game. Arizona doesn't have any wide receivers in the top 10 in receptions, yards, yards per game (Purify is 10th but doesn't count since he's on IR), nor yards per catch. Add to that an increase in getting ODIE ARMSTRONG involved in the passing game last week and the Rattlers' wide outs just don't pack enough punch to be viable. In turn, it knocks down NICK DAVILA of the Rattlers and he is, surprisingly, going to take a seat this week on my lineup.

In his place, ERIK MEYER of the Shock will get the call at a quarterback spot. He leads the league in passing average at 309 yards per game and 24 passing touchdowns. The thing that goes the best with Meyer would be ADRON TENNELL of the Shock. He is the only other receiver with 10 touchdowns this season, averages 100 yards per game and is third in the league in receptions.

We still want one more quarterback and we need a kicker, both from the Central Division. The quarterback is an easy choice as JJ RATERINK is the second-best quarterback when it comes to yards per game (296), total yards (888) and third in yards per completion (13.9).

As for the kicker, we'll give JOSE MARTINEZ of the Rush a try since Pittsburgh has a poor defense and should be giving up points in bunches. Martinez should be busy putting up points and he's missed just one extra point this season.

Don't forget, you can still jump in the Arena Fan-tasy deluxe leagues! Signups are still being taken through this Friday.

Good luck to everyone in Week 4!
