Valor Game Preview: Third Time's A Charm?

After another tough loss in a rematch with Baltimore last week, the Washington Valor (1-8) visit Florida again this weekend. Facing off with the Tampa Bay Storm (7-2) inside of Amalie Arena at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 1st. The game will broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. Tampa Bay leads the season series 3-0.

Washington must love the sunny weather and bright skies, this is their third and final trip of the regular season to Florida and also marks the last time the two teams meet. The Valor defense is still reigning, allowing the least points against through nine games. Special teams continue to hurt Washington in critical moments but the offense has been clicking. Quarterback Sean Brackett came back down to earth a bit last week but his passer rating still sits above 100. His chemistry with the receiving corps remains unscathed, Carr has two or more touchdowns in each of his last three games and with six more receptions he'll have 300 on his career. McClain has six touchdowns in the last two games and has tied or set Valor franchise records recently as well.

This time around the Storm are Hill-less. Wide receiver Joe Hills left for the National Arena League a few weeks ago but he may be back for the season's end. WR's Kendrick Ings, Lamark Brown and Michael Lindsey should all see a major bump in targets from QB Randy Hippeard. And with WR Kendal Thompkins added to the mix, the Storm could still surge. Hippeard shows no signs of slowing down, leading all passers in most categories including passer rating, completion percentage and passing yards per game, he's still looking like the league leader for the 2017 AFL MVP.
