TAMPA -- The Jacksonville Sharks had one of their worst games in franchise history on Saturday night, as they were beaten by the Tampa Bay Storm 63-28. In the lone silver lining of the game though, Tiger Jones continue his ascent up the league record books for wide receivers.
Jones took Jacksonville's first play from scrimmage 40 yards for a touchdown, a part of an eight-catch game for 122 yards and two TDs.
For his career, Jones now has 847 catches, 11,890 yards and 245 scores. He also has logged at least 100 receiving yards in all six games this season and in seven regular season games dating back to last year with the Philadelphia Soul.
The 32-year old caught Siaha Burley and Corey Fleming to move into ninth place all-time in receptions. He is just two touchdowns shy of Burley on the all-time receiving touchdowns list.
Jones is second amongst active players in every major receiving category. He is ninth all-time in receiving touchdowns, sixth in receiving yards and ninth in touchdowns.
Joe Hills also improved his streak of consecutive games with a touchdown to 40 in the regular season and 41 overall, though he was ejected in the second quarter for throwing a punch. His 41 consecutive games with a TD ties him with Eddie Brown for the fourth longest streak of games with a touchdown in league history.
TT Toliver meanwhile, came into the game with 13,256 receiving yards, and he needed 108 to surpass the great Wagner for third place. He nearly accomplished that goal, coming up just shy with nine catches for 96 yards and four TDs. For his efforts on Saturday, Toliver was named Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Game.
Toliver is now just 12 yards shy of Wagner for third all-time on the receiving yards list and is 31 yards away from Chris Jackson for second all-time.
