Multiple independent sources have confirmed to ArenaFan that Portland will be joining the Arena Football League in 2014. The last time the AFL was in Portland was in 1997 through 1999. The team, known as the Portland Forest Dragons, only went 13-29 in their team history, and it never made the playoffs.
KGW.com's Craig Edwards is reporting that the Portland Trail Blazers are in talks to purchase an AFL franchise and move the franchise to Portland.
Currently, the AFL has two franchises that are essentially dead in the water. As reported by ArenaFan.com, the Chicago Rush will not be playing in 2014 and could be the franchise on the move, but the franchise that is likely to get the call to move to Portland is the Milwaukee Mustangs, who went dormant following the 2012 season.
