Steve Thonn is returning to Grand Rapids! At least for one day, that is.
Thonn, who is the head coach of the Cleveland Gladiators, will hold an open player tryout on Sunday, October 30 at the Soccer Spot, the former training facility of the Grand Rapids Rampage.
Thonn coached the Rampage in 2008 and led the team to the American Conference championship game. Grand Rapids beat the Arizona Rattlers and the Chicago Rush in the playoffs that year, both on the road, before losing to the San Jose SaberCats. He became the head coach in Cleveland in 2010 and this past season, the Gladiators won the Eastern Division championship.
Registration for the Grand Rapids tryout begins at 10:00AM and the cost is $60 for participants. The Soccer Spot is located at 3701 32nd Street SE in Kentwood.
