A source within the af2 confirmed to Arenafan.com today that the af2 has added a new market for the upcoming 2008 season.  The Daytona Beach, Florida market is making the jump from the World Indoor Football League to the af2. The team will play as the Daytona Beach Thunderbirds in the Ocean Center.

The Thunderbirds are expected to announce a new head coach of the team at a 2pm press conference on Tuesday. That coach will be all-time AFL great offensive specialist and return man for the Orlando Predators, McCurey “Herkie” Walls. Walls is most known for being the star OS beside Barry Wagner in 1992-1996. Walls also played with Preds quarterback, now coach of the Austin Wranglers af2 franchise Ben Bennett.

This will be Walls first season as an af2 head coach. It is also expected that Leon Bright who coached the team in the WIFL will be an assistant coach of the Thunderbirds.

Arenafan.com will bring you coverage of this press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
