Who’s next?

The South Georgia Wildcat’s contest Saturday against the Manchester Wolves is drawing the type of attention usually given to playoff games in August.
The focus is on South Georgia’s quarterback D. Bryant, who has currently thrown for 3,097 yards and 67 touchdowns on a 62.9 completion percentage while also rushing for seven touchdowns in just 11 games for South Georgia. You see this is a homecoming of sorts. Bryant played in 12-games last season for the Wolves. Bryant says you always want to play well when you play a former team.
“I kinda know what they are going to do,” said D. Bryant. “They play a bend but don’t break defense.”
I need to deflect some of the spotlight's heat from Bryant.
"This game doesn't need to be D. Bryant versus Manchester," Wildcat Fan Adrian Singletary said. "It needs to be South Georgia versus Manchester."
It would be an interesting match up without the Bryant subplot. South Georgia is ranked fifth in this week Coaches Poll, while history-rich Manchester is near the Top 10, at 15.
Of note South Georgia has not beaten Manchester since moving to Albany.
As a matter of fact, their last meeting was May 20, 2005, in Manchester, when the Wolves won 46-21 in front of 6432 people.
A lot of the Wolves players say their 5-6 record this year is Deja-Vu.
“The only thing that’s similar to last year situation is our record, I believe,” said six-year veteran Manchester defensive back Allistair Sebastien. “Last year we were hitting our stride at this point and this year we’re still looking to get some consistency. We need to come out of this bye week with some fire and pull together a nice win streak like we able to in 2006 and I think that’s very attainable.”
Its time to make the stretch run for the playoffs and the only question teams can ask is who’s next.
