Adam Markowitz, ArenaFan.com

For those that don’t know me, I’ve been around this game for a long time. However, out of every game, every trade, every free agent signing, every victory and every defeat I’ve witnessed, there has not been a more intriguing and mystifying day in Arena Football League history than Friday, July 25, 2008.

In the season finale of Breaking it Down, the world’s longest named championship, the Virgin Mobile ArenaBowl XXII New Orleans, will be broken down statistically and historically like no where else but right here on ArenaFan.com.

My trip to ArenaBowl XXII
Fran Stuchbury, OurSports Central

This was the sixth ArenaBowl I have attended, the first since ArenaBowl XIX in Las Vegas. While I was waiting for my flight at the Philadelphia airport I spoke to several Philadelphia Soul fans who said they were very excited about going to New Orleans. With Jon Bon Jovi guaranteeing a free concert to the residents of Philly because the Soul won ArenaBowl XXII 59-56 over the San Jose SaberCats this past Sunday, I got to thinking how this could be marketed to maximize exposure for the AFL and the Soul.

Philadelphia Inquirer

When Soul owner Jon Bon Jovi left his seat Sunday to head down to his team's locker room and celebrate the franchise's first ArenaBowl title, it was before the San Jose SaberCats scored 14 points in 11 seconds to suddenly put the outcome of the game in doubt.

Prior to Sunday, both Chris Jackson and Matt D'Orazio had Arena Bowl experience. Jackson's experience came in 2005, when he and the Georgia Force lost to the Colorado Crush in a nail-biter. D'Orazio made out better in his first crack at Arena Football glory.

Adam Markowitz, ArenaFan.com

For the city of Philadelphia, winning the individual games has always come relatively easily. But thanks to a smothering defense and a near perfect offensive effort, the Soul will return back to the City of Brotherly Love with the Foster Trophy. The Soul captured the ArenaBowl XXII crown by the count of 59-56.

Soul Set to Reverse the Philly Curse
Adam Markowitz, ArenaFan.com

For the residents of Philadelphia, the curse of the Bambino was nothing. All of the mumbo jumbo about some goat in Chicago is meaningless. In Philly, the only jinx that matters is known as the Curse of William Penn.

The AFL tomorrow
Tim Ball, ArenaFan.com

What’s going on in the office meetings between the franchise owners and the league office? We think of AFL success as a game won by massive and furious football players and run by business people that control things.
